Up to 20% of homes in the UK have a vented or an unvented hot water cylinder. A typical tank has an immersion heater at the top of the tank which will only heat the top 1/3rd of that tank. As a means of energy storage this is poor because as soon as you have a couple of showers the cold water fills the space occupied by hot water at the top of the tank and the immersion heater kicks in when electricity is at its maximum cost.

The WrightChoice Energy Storage device fits on the outside of an existing hot water cylinder and you can heat 100% of the tank so that when you use hot water at the top of the tank, this is replaced by more hot water so the immersion heater does not kick in.

The WrightChoice Energy Storage device uses a 4 watt pump which is half the power of a ‘Radiator Flow Booster’ and 1/4 that of a ‘ShowerPowerBooster.’ The pump benefits from the same ability to resist high temperatures and pressures.

In a typical 210 litre hot water cylinder only the top 70 litres is heated by an immersion heater in a conventional hot water cylinder. The device allows the entire 210 litres to be heated thus storing 12.5 KWHr of useable energy. This allows you to store enough hot water for multiple showers and baths using off peak energy or your own home generated photo voltaic electricity.

The device has a UK Patent and is Patent Pending in Europe.
