Retrofitting a patented tank conversion kit to an existing hot water cylinder will for 99% of homes result in the existing indirect heating coil being redundant. Linking the redundant coil to a series of WrightChoice solar thermal panels allows you to supplement your energy needs on a sunny winters day and up to 100% of free solar thermally heated water for washing and bathing in the summer.
ShowerPowerBooster are WRAS approved making them perfect for drinking water but they are also suitable for central heating and solar thermal indirect systems.
The ‘patented tank conversion kit’ is a device which fits on top of the hot water cylinder, costs about £40 to make, and allows a ordinary hot water cylinder to be used as a heat store to store up to 12.5 KW.
When the device is not activated the tank reverts to a normal hot water cylinder so in the summer on sunny days you can use the bottom 2/3 of the hot water cylinder to store solar thermally heated water either directly or indirectly.
We await a study being carried out by the UEA to optimise the process and due to the lack of manufacturing capacity we have temporarily paused sales on the devices.
